Hastings, Neb. – Storm chances are back in central Nebraska tonight as gusty winds and scattered showers move in, creating the potential for slick roads and travel delays to start the workweek.
According to the National Weather Service in Hastings, southerly winds will increase west of Highway 183 this evening, gusting between 20 and 25 mph. Showers and thunderstorms are likely to continue into Monday, with stronger gusts up to 30 mph possible. Temperatures Monday will vary widely depending on cloud cover, ranging from the low 70s under thicker clouds to the low 80s where skies break.
By Tuesday, calmer conditions return with partly cloudy skies and highs in the low to mid-80s. However, residents should prepare for another round of evening storms Wednesday, which could impact outdoor activities and overnight travel.
Travelers are advised to watch for sudden downpours during the Monday morning commute and secure any loose outdoor items that could blow around in gusty winds.
Storm chances will diminish after midweek, but the warm, humid pattern is expected to continue into late week.
