Hastings, Neb. – A crisp night is ahead as temperatures dip into the mid-40s to upper 50s across Nebraska, but warmer days are on the way with highs pushing back into the 80s by Tuesday.

According to the National Weather Service in Hastings, scattered storm chances return Monday, especially east of Grand Island and York, with a 20 to 45 percent chance of rain and thunder. Another system may spark additional storms Wednesday night, though odds are lower at 20 to 30 percent.

Sunday looks mostly dry with highs in the mid-70s to near 80. By Monday, humidity increases, fueling a storm threat that could bring heavy downpours in localized areas. Winds remain light, but unsettled skies east of Lincoln may cause slower commutes during evening hours.

Residents are advised to keep outdoor plans flexible Monday and Wednesday. Those in eastern counties should watch for quickly changing conditions and avoid flooded low-lying roads if heavier storms develop.

The next notable warm-up arrives Tuesday and Wednesday with highs in the low to mid-80s before storms return midweek. Additional advisories are possible as the week progresses.
