Hastings, NE – A noticeable warm-up is set to arrive in Hastings on Monday, offering a welcome break from recent colder conditions as temperatures climb well above freezing to start the workweek.

According to the National Weather Service in Hastings, Monday will be mostly sunny, with daytime highs ranging from 47 to 57 degrees across the area. While mornings will still start cold, with low temperatures dipping into the low to mid 20s, conditions will steadily improve through the afternoon as warmer air moves in.

Forecasters say Monday marks the beginning of a broader warming trend that will continue through much of the week. On Tuesday, highs are expected to rise even further, reaching the mid-50s to low 60s, while overnight lows moderate into the upper 20s to near 30 degrees.

Wednesday is forecast to remain mild, with highs again in the low to mid 60s, before slightly cooler air arrives later in the week. Even so, temperatures are expected to stay above average for mid-December, with no significant winter weather systems on the immediate horizon.

While the warmer afternoons will be noticeable, residents are reminded that cold mornings will continue, especially early Monday. Dressing in layers will be important for those heading out before sunrise, as temperatures may still feel winter-like during the morning commute.

The dry and mild pattern should also make travel conditions favorable across south-central Nebraska, with no snow or ice concerns expected during the early part of the week.

Meteorologists note that while this warm-up does not signal the end of winter, it will provide a brief and pleasant stretch of weather before more seasonal conditions eventually return.

Residents are encouraged to enjoy the sunshine Monday and stay updated on the latest forecasts as temperatures fluctuate later this week.
