Hastings, NE – A warm spell sweeping through south-central Nebraska will peak with temperatures near 80°F and increasing chances of thunderstorms through Friday evening.
According to the National Weather Service in Hastings, quiet conditions will continue tonight with lows dipping into the mid-30s to mid-40s. By Wednesday, daytime highs will climb into the upper 60s to mid-70s, paired with gusty southern winds up to 30 MPH, elevating fire danger across the region.
Thursday will bring the first signs of instability, with isolated thunderstorms expected—particularly overnight and in eastern parts of the region. Temperatures will rise further, ranging from 78°F to 86°F, and wind gusts could reach 25 MPH.
Scattered thunderstorms are forecasted to develop Friday, especially during the evening. The NWS notes that Friday will also feature sustained winds of 15–25 MPH and gusts potentially hitting 35 MPH. Highs are projected between 79°F and 86°F, with overnight lows in the upper 50s.
