Hastings, Nebraska – Seasonably mild temperatures are expected to continue across south-central Nebraska over the next several days, with daytime highs climbing into the 50s and low 60s before rain chances return late in the week, potentially affecting travel along Interstate 80 and U.S. Highway 281.
According to the National Weather Service in Hastings, highs through Saturday will generally range from the low 50s to low 60s, with overnight lows falling into the 20s and 30s. Tonight’s low temperatures are forecast to range from 21 to 27 degrees, followed by a warmer Wednesday with highs between 52 and 56 degrees under partly cloudy skies.
Thursday is expected to be one of the warmest days of the stretch, with highs forecast between 56 and 61 degrees and overnight lows ranging from 24 to 32 degrees. Dry conditions are expected to continue through most of the day Thursday, supporting favorable travel conditions across the region.
Rain chances begin to return Friday and Saturday as a weak weather system approaches. Forecasters currently indicate a 10 to 40 percent chance of rain, with the best precipitation potential focused across southeastern portions of the area. Friday highs are expected to range from 56 to 59 degrees, with lows dipping into the low to mid-30s. Saturday temperatures are forecast to remain mild, with highs between 54 and 59 degrees.
While rainfall amounts are expected to be light, motorists traveling along I-80, U.S. 281, and surrounding highways should be prepared for damp roadways during periods of precipitation. No winter weather impacts are indicated at this time.
