Hastings, NE – Central Nebraska is enjoying one of the warmest stretches of fall so far, with the National Weather Service in Hastings forecasting sunny skies and temperatures soaring into the 70s through Friday — and even the chance of record warmth before a significant cooldown arrives next week.

According to the weather service, light south winds and dry air will help maintain mostly sunny skies through the end of the week. Afternoon highs are expected to range from 63–70°F today, 66–72°F Thursday, and 73–78°F Friday, with Friday potentially setting new temperature records across parts of the state.

“These warm temperatures will likely continue into Saturday,” forecasters noted, “with a more significant and prolonged cool down expected next week.”

The early November warmth comes well above seasonal averages, with many locations running 10–15 degrees higher than normal. Residents are encouraged to enjoy the mild stretch while it lasts, as next week’s forecast hints at highs dropping back into the 40s and 50s — a sharp reminder that winter isn’t far off.

Light winds between 5–15 mph will keep outdoor conditions pleasant, making this an ideal window for yardwork, late-season travel, or fall festivals before colder air settles in.
