Hastings, Nebraska – Central Nebraska will experience a very mild start to the workweek before temperatures cool back closer to seasonal levels by midweek, accompanied by breezy conditions.
According to the National Weather Service in Hastings, Monday and Tuesday will be the warmest days of the stretch. On Monday, highs in Hastings are expected to reach 56 to 62 degrees, making it the mildest day of the week. Winds will be lighter than the rest of the week, generally from the west at 5 to 15 mph, under mostly sunny skies.
The warm trend continues into Tuesday, with highs climbing into the upper 50s to low 60s. Winds will increase noticeably, becoming breezy to windy, with west-northwest gusts of 25 to 35 mph during the daytime. Despite the wind, conditions remain mostly dry.
A cold front moves through late Tuesday into Wednesday, bringing temperatures back “closer to reality” for January. Highs Wednesday are forecast to drop into the upper 30s to mid-40s, with continued breezy northwest winds of 15 to 25 mph, occasionally gusting higher.
There is a low chance of very light precipitation from Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday morning, mainly in the form of sprinkles or flurries. The National Weather Service notes that any precipitation would be light, with no accumulation or significant impacts expected.
By Thursday, temperatures recover slightly, with highs ranging from 40 to 55 degrees, still breezy but generally dry.
No weather advisories are in effect at this time. However, the persistent wind and changing temperatures may be noticeable for commuters, students, and outdoor workers throughout the week.
