Hastings, NE – Strong southerly winds and unseasonably warm temperatures are expected across central Nebraska today ahead of an approaching cold front, according to the U.S. National Weather Service in Hastings.

Forecasters say gusts may reach 30 to 35 mph this afternoon, with highs climbing into the upper 70s to mid-80s. Conditions will remain dry for most of the day, though scattered evening showers and isolated thunderstorms are possible north of Interstate 80.

Sunday will bring another warm day, with highs between 80°F and 88°F before the cold front sweeps through, shifting winds from the south to the northwest. Rain chances increase Sunday night into early Monday. Cooler temperatures follow the front, with highs only in the low to mid-60s Monday and lows dipping into the 40s.

By Tuesday, scattered rain chances are expected to continue as highs stay in the mid-50s to mid-60s. The National Weather Service advises residents to secure outdoor items and use caution when driving high-profile vehicles due to gusty winds today.
