Harris County, TX – Two men have been arrested after an alleged assault on a 35-year-old man in northwest Harris County earlier this week. According to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, Xavier Martinez, 19, and Jace Fields, 27, were charged with Class A Assault following an incident late Monday night near the 13600 block of State Highway 249.

Investigators say the victim, believed to be homeless, was retrieving clothing from a dumpster around 11:30 p.m. on November 4 when two men approached in a vehicle. Without provocation, Martinez allegedly pepper-sprayed the victim and took photos of him while he was disoriented.

According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, Fields allegedly recorded the attack and encouraged Martinez before both fled the scene. Authorities say Fields later uploaded the video to his Instagram account.

Both suspects were taken into custody by the department’s Violent Persons Task Force and booked into the Harris County Jail. Sheriff Gonzalez commended patrol deputies, detectives, and the Victim Assistance Unit for their quick action and support of the victim.
