Harrington, DE – Delaware State Police arrested 60-year-old John Allen of Harrington after he allegedly fired multiple gunshots at a passing vehicle along Staytonville Road Thursday afternoon.

According to Delaware State Police, the incident occurred around 1:00 p.m. on November 7, 2025, in the 1000 block of Staytonville Road. When troopers arrived, they found Allen standing near the roadway with his hands raised, reportedly trying to flag down passing motorists.

Investigators say two vehicles stopped to assist. One of the drivers attempted to speak with Allen, who was allegedly yelling at another driver. During the encounter, the victim noticed Allen holding a gun. As the victim drove away, Allen allegedly fired several rounds toward the vehicle. No injuries were reported, and troopers quickly took Allen into custody without further incident.

Allen was transported to Troop 3, where he was charged with multiple offenses, including Reckless Endangering 1st Degree, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, and Failure to Comply with Taking of Photos and Fingerprints.

He was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $23,500 cash bond.
