Goodland, KS – Residents across the Colorado–Kansas–Nebraska border region should prepare for freezing temperatures overnight as a Freeze Warning remains in effect from 9 p.m. MDT (10 p.m. CDT) Saturday through 10 a.m. MDT (11 a.m. CDT) Sunday, according to the National Weather Service in Goodland.

The warning includes Yuma, Kit Carson, and Cheyenne counties in Colorado; Cheyenne, Rawlins, Sherman, Wallace, and Greeley counties in Kansas; and Dundy, Hitchcock, and Red Willow counties in Nebraska. Cities under the alert include Goodland, McCook, Burlington, Wray, and Benkelman.

Forecasters expect overnight lows around 29°F, bringing frost and freeze conditions capable of killing crops, damaging sensitive plants, and freezing outdoor plumbing. Residents are advised to drain sprinkler systems, cover exposed pipes, and protect plants before sunset.

This will likely mark one of the first widespread freezes of the season across the High Plains, signaling a shift to colder fall weather through early next week.
