Hanover, Va. – A 21-year-old Mechanicsville man was killed early Saturday morning after his pickup truck left the roadway and struck a tree, according to the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded at approximately 1:39 a.m. on Saturday, December 13, 2025, to the 7200 block of Brooking Way in Mechanicsville for reports of a single-vehicle crash. When they arrived, they found a 2019 Ford pickup that had been traveling southbound before leaving the road and colliding with a tree.
According to the sheriff’s office, the driver and sole occupant, Michael L. Gill, 21, of Mechanicsville, Virginia, was pronounced deceased at the scene by Hanover Fire and EMS. No other vehicles were involved.
Investigators are continuing to gather information to determine the circumstances that led to the crash, including what may have caused the vehicle to leave the roadway.
The Hanover County Sheriff’s Office extended its condolences to the family of Michael L. Gill during what officials described as a difficult time.
