Hampshire County, WV – Communities across Hampshire County are rolling out a full slate of holiday events this December, with festivities planned in both Capon Bridge and Downtown Romney. From parades and tree lightings to cookie crawls, holiday markets and children’s workshops, residents will have many opportunities to celebrate the season.

According to event organizers and local officials, Capon Bridge kicks off its December lineup with the Town Christmas Tree Lighting on Dec. 5 at 7 p.m. at the Capon Bridge Library, where Santa and Mrs. Claus are scheduled to appear. The following morning, the Christmas Bazaar runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Capon Bridge Fire Department Dining Hall. A Christmas parade follows later that day at 4 p.m., with lineup beginning at 2 p.m.

Additional Capon Bridge activities include hayrides, s’mores and hot cocoa on Dec. 13, an Afternoon with the Grinch and Cindy Lou on Dec. 14, and A Christmas Message on Dec. 20 at the Capon Bridge Pavilion.

Romney’s celebrations begin earlier in the month with the Annual Cookie Crawl on Dec. 5, followed by the Christmas in Romney Tree Lighting Ceremony the same evening. The popular Festival of Trees display runs through early January, showcasing creations by local families and organizations.

On Dec. 13, Romney hosts a packed day of events, including Breakfast with Santa, the Christkindl Market, children’s shopping at Christmas House, and the 2025 Christmas in Romney Parade at noon. Families can also visit the Safe Haven Tabernacle Live Nativity that evening.

Hampshire County Sheriff’s Office officials highlighted the broad offerings and encouraged families to enjoy the monthlong schedule of holiday cheer safely.
