Noblesville, IN – A shoplifting suspect was taken into custody after police used drone technology and real-time intelligence sharing to track her movements outside a Noblesville retail store, according to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.

According to authorities, the incident occurred on December 2, 2025, Tuesday, when the Hamilton County Communications Center received a 911 call reporting an active shoplifting incident at the TJ Maxx on Mercantile Boulevard. Within seconds, the Noblesville Police Department deployed a Drone as First Responder (DFR), providing aerial awareness before patrol officers were even notified of the call.

At the same time, analysts at the Hamilton County Real Time Information Center (RTIC) used advanced software and intelligence databases to positively identify the suspect and confirm she allegedly had multiple active warrants prior to leaving the store.

Officials said the drone maintained continuous visual contact as the suspect exited the business and walked to her vehicle. Officers then safely made contact and took her into custody without incident.

A subsequent search warrant was executed on the suspect’s vehicle, leading to the recovery of more than 200 stolen merchandise items believed to have been taken from at least nine different retail stores, according to investigators.

Sheriff’s officials said the case highlights the growing role of interagency collaboration between the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, Noblesville Police Department, and Carmel Police Department, all of which contribute personnel to the RTIC.

The RTIC, which opened in November 2024, serves as a centralized hub for real-time crime intelligence, video surveillance, and data sharing across Hamilton County. Officials say the system improves response times, supports investigations, and enhances public safety while helping agencies deploy resources more efficiently.

Authorities noted that the investigation remains ongoing.
