Westfield, IN – A drug and firearms investigation led to a vehicle pursuit and two arrests Monday night after Westfield Police said suspects fled during a traffic stop near 116th Street and Keystone Parkway.

According to the Westfield Police Department, the Special Investigations Unit was conducting surveillance in the 17000 block of Hawaii Court on January 6 when detectives observed what appeared to be a drug transaction. Officers attempted to stop the suspect vehicle, which fled eastbound onto I-465 into Indianapolis.

Police said officers from Carmel, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police, and Indiana State Police assisted in the chase. The pursuit ended near Sherman Drive and 25th Street when a Carmel officer executed a PIT maneuver, disabling the vehicle.

The front-seat passenger, identified as Kharii Dunbar, allegedly fled on foot but was quickly apprehended. A 17-year-old driver remained in the vehicle and was taken into custody without incident.

Investigators reported recovering two Glock handguns—one with an extended magazine and a conversion device—plus marijuana packaged for sale and nearly $1,400 in cash. One firearm had been reported stolen from Indianapolis, police said.

Dunbar, who has a prior conviction for Level 4 felony firearm possession, now faces six new charges including possession of a machine gun, theft of a firearm, resisting law enforcement, and dealing in marijuana. The juvenile was waived into adult court on similar charges.

Both suspects were booked into the Hamilton County Jail. Police emphasized that all charges remain allegations until proven in court.
