Gainesville, GA – Hall County Government and the City of Gainesville have launched a Community Food Drive to benefit the Georgia Mountain Food Bank, running from Nov. 7 through Nov. 25. The initiative seeks to help local families struggling with food insecurity, particularly as SNAP benefits remain delayed for many residents.

According to Hall County officials, more than 30 collection locations have been set up across Gainesville and throughout northern, eastern, western, and southern Hall County. Donations of nonperishable food items will go directly to the Georgia Mountain Food Bank for distribution to households in need.

“While millions of families across the U.S. await reduced SNAP benefits, we want to make it easier for our community to step up,” said Gainesville Public Relations Director Christina Santee-Moss, noting the drive’s focus on providing nutritious food for local families.

Residents are encouraged to donate shelf-stable goods such as canned vegetables, pasta, rice, and boxed meals. A full list of acceptable food items and drop-off locations is available at hallcounty.org.

Those with questions about donations can contact csantee@gainesvillega.gov or pio@hallcounty.org. For distribution information, residents may also call the Georgia Mountain Food Bank at 770-534-4111.

Additional local food assistance resources are listed on the Georgia Department of Community Affairs website: https://dca.georgia.gov/
