Gyms, bowling alleys, theaters included for closure under Illinois Executive Order

Earlier this afternoon, the Kankakee County Sheriff’s office posted a copy of the Executive Order filed by Governor J.B. Pritzker regarding the closure of bars and restaurants at the end of business today.

In addition to bars and restaurants, the order calls for the closure of fitness centers, health clubs, bowling alleys, private clubs and theaters. It also exempts services inside airports, hospitals and dining halls in colleges and universities along with hotel food service.

Section 1: “Business is located in airports, hospitals, dining halls in colleges and universities are exempt from the requirements of this executive order.  Hotel restaurants may continue to provide room service and carry out catering services may continue.”

Section 2: “The order calls for the closures of fitness centers, health clubs, bowling alleys, and private clubs, and theaters. This does not include this does not include venues that provide essential goods or services such as grocery stores, hospitals, pharmacy gas stations, banks credit unions, and shelters.”

  1. Your headline and story contradict the order!

    You say gyms must close. But the order says they may remain open, they just have to limit themselves to 50 people at a time.

    Read the last paragraph of the order! And please fix your article!
