Amarillo, TX – The National Weather Service in Amarillo reports that Saturday will be a breezy and mild day across the Texas and Oklahoma Panhandles, with above-normal temperatures and gusty west winds lasting through the afternoon.
High temperatures are forecast to reach the low to mid-60s across much of the region, roughly 10–15 degrees above seasonal averages. The warmup comes courtesy of strong southwest to west winds, with gusts between 25–45 mph, strongest in the southwestern Texas Panhandle near Vega and Hereford.
Residents are advised to secure outdoor items that could be blown around and to use caution while driving, especially in high-profile vehicles on open highways.
Temperatures will cool back to more typical December levels on Sunday, with lighter winds and calmer conditions expected to start the new week.
