Gurnee, IL – Starting today, the Gurnee Police Department has officially transitioned its emergency dispatch operations to LakeComm911, a regional communications center serving multiple communities across Lake County.

According to the Gurnee Police Department, the move will not affect how residents contact emergency services. Locals should continue to call 9-1-1 for emergencies and 847-599-7000 for non-emergency police assistance. Officials confirmed there will be no interruption to service during or after the transition.

While the dispatch center will no longer be located inside the Gurnee Police Department, calls will still be answered by trained professional dispatchers familiar with Gurnee and its first responders. The partnership is designed to improve coordination between police, fire, and medical services, ensuring faster, more efficient emergency response.

The department stated the switch allows officers to benefit from updated technology and streamlined communication systems, enhancing safety and service quality.

“We’re proud to continue providing the high level of service our community expects,” officials said in a public notice Thursday morning.
