TAMPA, FL – Warm Gulf air drifts inland this morning, hinting at a change in Florida’s early December pattern. After a string of sunny days, showers and isolated thunderstorms are on the way for Tuesday morning, bringing a few gusty winds and wet roads across the Tampa Bay region.
The National Weather Service in Tampa Bay calls for a 50% chance of showers and storms between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. Tuesday, as a weak front pushes in from the Gulf. Rainfall totals will stay light — mostly under a tenth of an inch — but heavier bursts could briefly reduce visibility along I-275 and I-75 during the mid-morning commute.
Winds will shift south, increasing to 10–15 mph with gusts up to 20 mph, adding a humid, breezy feel to the day. By afternoon, skies begin to clear from west to east, setting up a dry stretch through midweek.
Wednesday through Friday bring mostly sunny skies and highs in the upper 70s to low 80s, ideal for early holiday decorating or outdoor travel. A few patchy showers could return by Saturday, but no major systems are expected through the weekend.
Drivers should plan extra time Tuesday morning and keep umbrellas handy as roads turn slick early. The pattern remains decidedly warm for December, keeping Florida on the mild side of the national weather divide as winter storms hit farther north.
