Shreveport, Louisiana – Rain chances will spike across the southern half of Louisiana and neighboring states beginning Friday as a tropical disturbance in the Gulf continues to funnel deep moisture into the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, a broad area of low pressure with disorganized showers is being tracked near the Florida Panhandle. While development into a tropical cyclone remains unlikely with just a 10% formation chance, the system is expected to drift west toward the North Central Gulf, enhancing rainfall over Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Texas through the weekend.

Residents across the Gulf Coast and the Southeast half of the Four State Region should prepare for periods of heavy rain, localized flooding in low-lying areas, and slower commutes, especially on highways like I-20 and I-49. Outdoor events may be impacted Friday through Sunday, with wet conditions likely across Shreveport, Monroe, Alexandria, and extending into East Texas.

Drivers should watch for ponding on roads, secure outdoor furniture, and keep weather alerts active through mobile apps. No tropical warnings have been issued, but conditions may shift if the system organizes.

More updates are expected daily as the system moves west. Rain impacts are forecast to last into late Sunday.
