Lake Charles, LA – Dense fog across coastal Louisiana and southeast Texas is expected to significantly reduce visibility through Monday morning, creating dangerous conditions for boaters and early commuters alike.

According to the National Weather Service in Lake Charles and New Orleans, marine fog advisories remain in effect until 10 a.m. CDT Monday for Gulf waters from Pascagoula, Mississippi, to High Island, Texas. Visibility is forecast to drop to one nautical mile or less offshore, with some areas inland seeing visibility reduced to one-quarter mile.

The affected regions include Sabine Lake, Calcasieu Lake, and the Atchafalaya and Cote Blanche Bays, along with waters near Port Fourchon, Boothville, and Cameron. Inland fog advisories are also active in parts of Cameron, Vermilion, Calcasieu, and Iberia parishes, as well as Jefferson and Orange counties in Texas, where travel may be especially hazardous until 7 a.m. CDT.

Officials urge boaters to navigate with extreme caution. Mariners should use fog signals, keep running lights on, and rely on radar and compass equipment. Drivers are advised to reduce speed, use headlights, and increase following distance.

This fog event is typical for early spring across the Gulf, where warm, humid air over cooler waters frequently causes low visibility conditions.
