Atlanta, GA – Residents across the Southeast and Gulf Coast are being urged to brace for an early-season blast of winter air Tuesday morning, as wind chills plunge into the teens and 20s across much of the region.

According to the NOAA Weather Prediction Center, widespread “winterlike” wind chills are forecast through Tuesday, November 11, as a strong Arctic air mass sweeps into the Eastern United States. Areas from northern Alabama and Georgia to the Carolinas and Virginia could experience “feels like” temperatures in the low teens, while parts of Mississippi, Tennessee, and Arkansas may wake up to single-digit wind chills.

Forecasters say the cold snap could challenge several daily record lows, with temperatures expected to dip into the mid-20s for most locations. Even along the Gulf Coast, wind chills are projected to reach the upper 20s, marking one of the coldest November mornings in recent years.

The National Weather Service advises residents to bundle up and limit early-morning outdoor exposure, especially for children and pets. Frost and freeze conditions could also impact sensitive vegetation and unprotected pipes across southern states.

Temperatures are expected to slowly rebound by midweek, but another cold front could bring additional chills later this week.
