Lake Charles, LA – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Lake Charles has extended a Coastal Flood Advisory for parts of southwestern Louisiana and southeastern Texas through 7 p.m. CDT Saturday, as elevated tides bring minor flooding to low-lying coastal areas.

The advisory covers West and East Cameron Parishes in Louisiana and Lower Jefferson County in Texas, including communities near Cameron, Sabine Pass, and Port Arthur.

According to the NWS, tide levels are running 1 to 1.5 feet above normal, which could cause flooding in coastal lots, parks, and roads. Only isolated road closures are expected, but residents and drivers in flood-prone zones are urged to allow extra travel time and avoid driving through standing water.

Forecasters say the elevated water levels are being driven by persistent onshore winds and higher-than-average tides. Conditions should gradually improve after sunset Saturday as winds shift and water recedes.
