Grundy County, IL – A routine traffic stop along Interstate 80 in Grundy County led to the seizure of roughly 10 pounds of suspected methamphetamine and the arrest of an Iowa couple Monday afternoon.

According to the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy with the Pro-Active Unit stopped a 2023 Nissan Rogue around 4:23 p.m. on Monday on Interstate 80 near the 105-mile marker for a lane change violation. The vehicle was traveling near Morris, approximately 60 miles southwest of Chicago.

The driver was identified as Jessica Feddersen, 39, of Wilton, Iowa, with Myron Powell, 47, also of Wilton, as a passenger. Deputies reported receiving inconsistent statements from the occupants and observed indicators of alleged criminal activity. A request to search the vehicle was denied.

A K-9 unit was later deployed, and the dog alerted to the odor of narcotics, giving deputies probable cause to search the vehicle, authorities said.

During the search, deputies allegedly discovered a large quantity of suspected crystal methamphetamine inside a plastic bag on the rear floorboard. According to the sheriff’s office, Powell allegedly attempted to flee by moving into the driver’s seat before being stopped with a taser and taken into custody.

A full search of the vehicle uncovered:

  • Approximately 4,525 grams (10 pounds) of suspected crystal methamphetamine
  • 119 grams of suspected cocaine
  • 20 grams of suspected cannabis
  • $3,675 in cash

Both individuals were taken to the Grundy County Jail and charged with Possession with Intent to Deliver Methamphetamine over 900 grams and Possession with Intent to Deliver Cocaine (100–400 grams). Powell was also charged with Resisting Arrest and was reportedly on federal probation at the time of the arrest.

Both suspects remain in custody pending a pre-trial release hearing.
