Greenwood, SC – A proactive patrol in eastern Greenwood County led to a significant drug seizure Tuesday afternoon after a deputy stopped an SUV partially concealed at the end of a secondary road, according to the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office.
According to the sheriff’s office, the incident occurred around 1:20 p.m. on Dec. 9, 2025, when the deputy approached the vehicle and smelled marijuana coming from inside. During the stop, one of the occupants allegedly admitted there was marijuana in the SUV, prompting a probable-cause search.
Deputies reported finding two baggies containing a combined 58.03 grams of marijuana, along with a box holding 332.80 grams of mushrooms. Additional items included four packs of THC gummies, three containers of THC balls, one box of THC cartridges, and six empty vacuum-sealed bags believed to contain marijuana residue.
Further investigation revealed that one occupant allegedly claimed possession of all illegal narcotics except for a single bag of marijuana, authorities said. Two arrests were made at the scene.
According to the sheriff’s office, one individual was cited and released for marijuana possession, while the second was transported to the Greenwood County Detention Center. That individual faces charges related to Distribution of a Controlled Substance, Schedule I & II.
