Greenville, SC – Most of Upstate South Carolina finished October 2025 drier than normal, with only isolated pockets near the I-85 corridor recording above-average rainfall, according to a new climate summary from the National Weather Service Greenville-Spartanburg.

Meteorologists said much of the region received 2 to 4 inches of rain for the month, with locally higher amounts around Anderson, Greenville, and Spartanburg Counties. The heaviest totals, between 4 and 6 inches, were concentrated along I-85, while many surrounding counties measured 50–75% of normal rainfall.

The weather service noted that the bulk of October’s precipitation fell between October 27–29, when a slow-moving system brought several rounds of showers to the western Carolinas and northeast Georgia. Outside of that period, the month remained largely dry.

Rainfall deficits were most pronounced across portions of western North Carolina and northeast Georgia, where totals were less than half of normal. Forecasters said this pattern continues a recent trend of spotty rainfall across the Southeast.

As the region moves into November, forecasters expect temperatures to stay near seasonal averages, with better chances of rain returning by mid-month.
