Greenville, South Carolina – Another wave of heavy rain is pushing northeast across the Carolinas and northeast Georgia this morning, raising flash flood concerns along and south of I-85. Areas hit hardest Tuesday, where 2 to 5 inches of rain already fell, are most at risk as saturated ground struggles to absorb more rainfall.

According to the National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg, moderate to heavy rain will continue through the morning hours. Isolated flash flooding is possible—especially in low-lying spots near Greenville, Anderson, Spartanburg, and up into western North Carolina. The primary area of concern stretches from northeastern Georgia to central South Carolina.

Drivers along I-85 and surrounding routes should remain alert for ponding on roads, rapidly rising creeks, and reduced visibility. Local officials urge residents to “Turn Around, Don’t Drown” if encountering water-covered roads.

Localized flooding in flood-prone neighborhoods and rural lowlands could disrupt early travel and slow commutes into late morning.

Rain should taper off by early afternoon, but the ground remains vulnerable for additional flooding if more storms develop later this week. Updates will continue as needed.
