Greenville, SC – Residents across the western Carolinas will see a mix of warm temperatures and increasing cloud cover today, with a small chance of afternoon showers.

According to the National Weather Service Greenville-Spartanburg, highs on Monday, September 15, will reach the low to mid-80s across much of Upstate South Carolina and the North Carolina Piedmont. Mountain communities will be slightly cooler, with highs in the 70s.

Forecasters said isolated afternoon and evening showers are possible, especially across the mountains and foothills of North Carolina. The chance of rain remains low—between 10% and 20% for most areas—and any showers that develop are expected to bring only light rainfall.

While today will still feel warm, cloud cover will prevent temperatures from climbing as high as they did over the weekend. The weather service noted that any rainfall, though light, will be welcome given the recent stretch of dry days across the region.

Drivers and outdoor planners are advised to prepare for brief spotty showers in the late afternoon or evening, though widespread rain is not expected. Conditions will remain mild heading into the evening hours.
