Greenville, South Carolina – Warm temperatures in the mid-80s are building across the Upstate today, but a stronger round of storms could disrupt plans by Saturday night as a cold front moves in.
According to the National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg, only isolated light showers are expected Thursday afternoon and evening, mainly across the mountains of western North Carolina and far northern South Carolina. Most communities, including Greenville, Spartanburg, and Anderson, will stay dry with increasing warmth.
The pattern shifts late Saturday as a line of showers and thunderstorms develops ahead of an approaching cold front. Storms are expected to move into the region Saturday night and continue into early Sunday, bringing periods of heavy rainfall and strong wind gusts.
Cities along I-85, including Greenville and Spartanburg, could see reduced visibility and ponding on roads during heavier downpours. Outdoor events Saturday evening may be impacted as storms approach from the west.
Residents should stay weather aware and monitor updates heading into the weekend. Additional advisories may be issued as confidence increases in storm timing and intensity.
