Greenville, S.C. – A refreshing stretch of fall-like weather is holding steady across the Carolinas, bringing cooler-than-average temperatures and crisp air more typical of late September than late August. Afternoon highs are topping out in the upper 70s to low 80s across much of the Upstate and western North Carolina.
According to the National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg, the comfortable air mass is set to remain in place through Wednesday, with low humidity and sunny skies dominating the region. Cities such as Greenville, Spartanburg, and Anderson will see highs around 80 degrees, while Asheville and the North Carolina mountains will stay cooler, in the mid-70s.
The combination of mild daytime warmth and cooler overnight lows in the upper 50s and lower 60s is offering residents a rare late-summer break. Outdoor activities, from morning runs to evening events, will be more comfortable without the usual August heat and humidity.
Drivers should be mindful of patchy fog in the early morning hours, particularly in valleys and along I-26 and I-85 corridors.
This early taste of fall is expected to last through midweek, with slightly warmer conditions edging back in by the weekend.
