Greenville, S.C. – A crisp Saturday night across the western Carolinas will give way to a mild, sunny Sunday as temperatures rebound to above-normal levels. After several cooler-than-average days, the region will feel more like early fall again by the end of the weekend.
According to the National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg, overnight lows Saturday will dip into the upper 40s and low 50s across the North Carolina foothills, with mid-50s in Upstate South Carolina. Asheville and Hickory could see readings near 49°F before dawn Sunday, while Greenville and Spartanburg remain closer to 58°F. Despite the chilly start, daytime highs Sunday are expected to soar back into the upper 70s and even touch 80°F in parts of the Piedmont and northeast Georgia.
The Weather Service says the current dry stretch will persist through much of next week, aided by a ridge of high pressure keeping skies mostly clear. Motorists traveling along I-85 or I-26 can expect good driving conditions, though early morning fog may briefly reduce visibility in valleys and low-lying areas. Outdoor events and fall festivals across Upstate South Carolina and western North Carolina should see ideal weather, with only a few passing clouds.
Residents are encouraged to continue conserving water as rainfall deficits linger across portions of the region. Sensitive plants and outdoor pets should fare well with the warmer conditions returning, but nighttime lows will still be cool enough to warrant light jackets or layers for early morning activities.
