Greenville, SC – A Greenville woman was shot and killed Tuesday night following a domestic altercation, according to the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said the incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. on October 3 at a residence on Beattie Street. Greenville County Communications received a 911 call reporting an unresponsive female. When deputies arrived, they found 29-year-old Kenoshia Yvonne Wheeler suffering from at least one gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to investigators, Wheeler and her partner, 33-year-old Deandra Dontia James, were involved in a verbal argument that escalated. Authorities said James allegedly shot Wheeler, who succumbed to her injuries shortly after.
James was arrested and charged with murder as well as possession of a weapon during a violent crime. He has been booked into the Greenville County Detention Center.
The Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations–Homicide Unit continues to investigate the case. Officials have not released further details on what led to the shooting.
