Greenville, South Carolina – A significant weather pattern change is set to bring heavy rain and strong winds to the region starting Friday evening and lasting through Saturday.
According to the National Weather Service Greenville-Spartanburg, moisture from a stalled front will build cloud cover through Thursday night and bring light rain near the mountains by early Friday. As low-pressure systems move northward through the Mississippi Valley on Friday night and Saturday, heavy rain will likely develop across the Appalachian region, including parts of North and South Carolina.
Storms are expected to develop ahead of a cold front Saturday, bringing strong winds and the possibility of torrential rainfall in the mountains. High winds and a sharp temperature drop will follow on Sunday, making for a cool and breezy day.
Forecasters say the heaviest rain is expected late Friday into Saturday, with strong gusts impacting the region ahead of the front, especially in areas east of the mountains.
Saturday afternoon will see stormy weather in the area, followed by cooler conditions by Sunday, with gusty winds continuing.
For travelers and outdoor plans, be prepared for wet conditions, possible storms, and significant temperature changes through the weekend.
