Greenville, OH – Deputies in Darke County are investigating a domestic dispute that escalated into gunfire Saturday afternoon on Willis Road. No injuries were reported, but the incident prompted a swift multi-state search before the suspect was ultimately apprehended in Kentucky.
According to the Darke County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched around 12:22 p.m. on November 15 to the 6000 block of Willis Road following reports that shots had been fired at—and into—a residence during a domestic disturbance. When deputies arrived, the suspect had already fled the area.
Officials said the suspect was identified as Dante Genovesi, 32, of Arcanum, Ohio. A be-on-the-lookout alert was disseminated to multiple surrounding agencies, triggering a coordinated effort to locate the fleeing individual.
A short time later, Georgetown, Kentucky Police located Genovesi and took him into custody without incident. According to investigators, he is charged with Felonious Assault and is currently awaiting extradition back to the Darke County Jail.
Deputies confirmed that no one at the residence was struck by the gunfire, though the investigation remains active as detectives work to document evidence and interview witnesses connected to the domestic dispute.
Authorities praised the rapid coordination between Ohio and Kentucky law enforcement agencies, noting that the quick apprehension helped bring an immediate end to a potentially dangerous situation.
Residents in the area reported seeing a heightened police presence following the initial 911 call, though deputies have stated there is no continued threat to the public.
