Greenville, DE – A maintenance worker at a Greenville senior living community was arrested this week after allegedly stealing prescription medication and other items from a resident’s home, according to Delaware State Police.

Troopers responded to the Stonegates Senior Living Community at 4031 Kennett Pike on Monday, December 17, 2025, after receiving a report of theft. Investigators said the victim, a resident at the community, had noticed personal items and medicine disappearing over time and decided to install a camera system inside their home.

According to police, on December 15, the cameras—both visible and hidden—captured 50-year-old John Oboyle of Newark entering the residence without a valid reason and allegedly stealing prescription medication along with part of the new camera equipment.

Oboyle, who worked as a maintenance employee at Stonegates, was arrested two days later in Newark and taken to Troop 1 for processing. Police said he was charged with three felonies: burglary in the second degree, acquiring a controlled substance by theft, and theft under $1,500 from a victim aged 62 or older.

He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released on a $6,000 unsecured bond, according to authorities.
