Greenville County, SC – A joint investigation between the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office and Greenville County Animal Control has led to the arrest of a Piedmont man allegedly connected to a dog-fighting operation, authorities announced Friday.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the investigation began October 9, 2025, after deputies received a complaint of possible animal cruelty and dog fighting. Investigators from both agencies obtained a search warrant for a property at 603 S. Artillery Court in Piedmont, where several dogs were reportedly being bred and housed.
During the search, deputies seized four American Pit Bull Terriers. Two of the dogs showed visible injuries believed to be consistent with dog fighting, officials said. All four animals were safely removed and turned over to animal control officers for evaluation and treatment.
As a result of the investigation, 44-year-old Zachary Vincent Miller was charged with two counts of dog fighting and three counts of ill treatment of animals.
Authorities said the case remains under investigation. Anyone with information about suspected animal cruelty is urged to contact Crime Stoppers of Greenville at 864-23-CRIME.
