Greenville, SC – A Greenville man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to multiple charges stemming from a violent 2022 domestic dispute, according to the Thirteenth Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
According to Solicitor Cindy Crick, 39-year-old Cleashon Jarbar Poindexter pleaded guilty on October 14, 2025, to Domestic Violence of a High and Aggravated Nature, Kidnapping, and Possession of a Sawed-Off Shotgun. Circuit Judge Vernon F. Dunbar handed down the sentence in Greenville County Court.
According to investigators, deputies with the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office were called to a residence on December 23, 2022, after reports of a domestic dispute involving Poindexter. When deputies arrived, they allegedly heard screaming from inside the home and found it barricaded. Deputies forced entry through a window as Poindexter reportedly dragged the victim upstairs, using her as a shield.
Deputies were able to safely free the victim and take Poindexter into custody. Prosecutors credited the responding deputies for their bravery and quick action, which they say prevented further harm.
Poindexter will serve his sentence in the South Carolina Department of Corrections.
