Greeneville, TN – A Greene County Grand Jury has handed down new charges against a local man following an investigation into child exploitation, officials announced this week.

According to the Greene County Sheriff’s Department, Timothy Hart was indicted on aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor and sexual exploitation of a minor after a joint investigation by the department’s Criminal Investigations Division and the Tennessee Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force.

The investigation began earlier this year when the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) alerted local authorities to suspected child sexual abuse material. Detectives say Hart’s electronic devices were later examined and allegedly contained illicit content. Investigators also allege that Hart distributed child sexual abuse material to another person.

Hart, who had previously been arrested in September for a sex offender registry violation, was taken into custody again following the grand jury indictment on November 10, 2025. His bond for the new charges was set at $75,000, and he remains in the Greene County Detention Center.

According to court documents, Hart is scheduled to appear for arraignment in Greene County Criminal Court on January 16, 2026, at 9:00 a.m.
