OAK GROVE HEIGHTS, Ark. – A coordinated law enforcement operation has led to the arrest of a person of interest in connection with a recent double homicide in Ash Flat, according to the Arkansas State Police.

Authorities said Jacob Lowell Smith was apprehended Tuesday evening, October 28, 2025, around 8 p.m., at an abandoned trailer just east of Oak Grove Heights in Greene County. The Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division, Greene County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team, Paragould Police Department, and the U.S. Marshals Service all assisted in the arrest.

According to police, Smith was wanted as a parole absconder and identified as a person of interest in the deaths of Tonya Stallings, 54, and Ashley Stallings, 33, both of Ash Flat. The victims were discovered deceased inside a home in the 300 block of Sweet Clover Lane on October 21 after deputies from the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of an unresponsive person.

Investigators said both women’s bodies were sent to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory to determine the cause and manner of death. Smith is being held at the Greene County Detention Center on the absconder warrant as the investigation continues.

Authorities have not announced any formal charges related to the deaths.
