According to the Green County Sheriff’s Office, investigators from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) arrived on scene Tuesday, November 25, to begin a full investigation into the cause of the crash. Officials said preliminary information shows the airplane had been inbound to land at the Monroe Municipal Airport when it crashed into a gravel quarry located on the north side of State Highway 59, directly adjacent to the airport. The aircraft impacted the quarry before reaching the runway.
The two individuals found deceased at the scene were confirmed to have been inside the plane at the time of the crash. Authorities identified the victims as a 43-year-old man from Oshkosh, WI, and a 41-year-old man from Omro, WI. Their names have not yet been released pending full notification of family.
Sheriff Cody D. Kanable offered condolences on behalf of the department, stating that their “thoughts and condolences are with the grieving families.” Officials added that no further releases are expected from the Sheriff’s Office regarding the incident.
