Wisconsin – Headlights cut through thick gray fog across the Green Bay metro this morning as rain taps steadily on wet pavement. Drivers approaching bridges along the Fox River and I-41 are moving slower as mist reduces visibility and slick roads develop across Brown County.

According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, a Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 9 a.m., with visibility dropping below a half mile in some neighborhoods. Rain continues through much of the day, and isolated thunderstorms could develop after mid-afternoon. Rainfall totals may reach a quarter to half an inch, especially near the lakeshore.

The combination of fog, rain, and damp pavement could slow travel along Interstate 41, Highway 172, and local routes connecting Green Bay, De Pere, and Ashwaubenon. Drivers should allow extra braking distance this morning while conditions remain murky.

Showers continue into the evening before gradually easing later tonight. Temperatures hover in the lower 50s through the day, keeping the air cool and damp across northeast Wisconsin.

Conditions begin improving heading into the weekend. A few lingering showers may appear early Saturday before clouds break and temperatures settle near the lower 50s. Skies clear further Saturday night.

Sunshine returns Sunday with highs approaching 58 degrees, offering one of the brighter early-March days. Early Sunday morning also marks the start of Daylight Saving Time, when clocks jump ahead at 2 a.m. The change means darker mornings but longer daylight in the evening.

Early next week continues the spring shift. Monday turns mostly sunny with highs near 62 degrees, noticeably warmer than seasonal averages.

By Tuesday afternoon, colder air may briefly return. A developing system could bring a mix of rain and snow across parts of northeast Wisconsin before temperatures cool again midweek.

Meteorologists also warn this time of year can bring sudden flash freezing when daytime melting refreezes at night, creating icy bridges and roads.

Looking farther ahead, long-range signals point toward a stronger warming trend across the Midwest by late next week.
