Wisconsin — A thin veil of light flakes drifts across driveways and open fields south of Highway 10 as dawn approaches. The air feels crisp and raw, and headlights catch the powder swirling just above the pavement. This early burst of winter weather arrives as Thanksgiving travel begins to accelerate across northeast Wisconsin, and drivers may encounter slick patches before conditions improve.

According to the National Weather Service Green Bay office, light to moderate snow early this morning continues to affect central and northeast Wisconsin. A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for southern parts of central Wisconsin west of the Fox Valley. Even as the snow tapers, untreated roads may stay slippery, especially in shaded rural areas and elevated stretches.

Travelers on Highway 10, Highway 29, and I-41 should allow extra time through the morning. Plows have reduced impacts in many locations, but light accumulations combined with subfreezing side-road temperatures can still produce thin ice. Keep speeds down and avoid sudden braking on bridges and ramps.

Conditions gradually brighten through midday as clouds break apart. By afternoon, temperatures climb toward the upper 30s, and drier air filters into the region. Wednesday brings quieter weather with partly sunny skies and highs in the lower 40s—good timing for holiday errands or early-season decorating.

Thursday’s pattern turns milder, though models hint at a Winter Tease late in the week as cooler air returns Saturday morning. No additional snow is expected through Friday, but the broader November trend suggests quick swings are still possible, especially as Thanksgiving approaches.

This weekend looks crisp and dry. Airfields, fields, and lakeshore neighborhoods should see plenty of sun, with highs in the mid-40s and chilly nights in the 20s. Travel conditions will improve for those heading out early for holiday gatherings.
