Green Bay, WI — Light snow is expected to move across the Green Bay area late tonight into Saturday morning, bringing minor accumulations and the potential for slippery road conditions.
According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, a fast-moving clipper system will bring another round of light snow to northern Wisconsin through mid-morning Saturday, December 20. Snow is expected to taper off later in the morning as the system moves east.
Forecasters say snowfall totals will generally range from a dusting to around 1 inch south of a Rhinelander-to–Iron Mountain line, which includes the Green Bay area. Areas north of that line could see 1 to 2 inches of accumulation, especially in north-central Wisconsin.
While widespread impacts are not expected, the National Weather Service warns that patchy freezing drizzle or sleet could mix in south of Highway 29 late tonight into early Saturday morning. This could result in isolated slick spots, particularly on untreated roads, bridges, and overpasses.
Snow is expected to overspread the region overnight, with the most noticeable impacts occurring during the early morning hours Saturday, when temperatures remain near or below freezing. Winds are expected to remain light, limiting blowing snow concerns.
Drivers in and around Green Bay are encouraged to use caution during overnight and early morning travel, reduce speeds, and allow extra stopping distance. Even light snowfall can create hazardous conditions when combined with freezing drizzle.
The National Weather Service says this system is not expected to produce significant delays or closures, but motorists should remain alert for changing road conditions, especially during the Saturday morning commute.
Conditions are expected to improve by late Saturday morning as snow diminishes and temperatures slowly rise.
Residents are encouraged to monitor the latest forecasts and road conditions at weather.gov/grb and through local transportation updates.
