GREEN BAY, Wis. – Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected across northern Wisconsin today as a cold front pushes through the state, but skies will gradually clear by late tonight. Most communities will see partly sunny and warmer conditions outside of the storm threat.
According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, the strongest chances for rain will arrive late this afternoon into the evening across northern counties including Rhinelander, Land O’ Lakes, and Florence. While storms are likely to produce downpours, no severe weather is expected.
Highs today will reach the mid to upper 70s in central and eastern Wisconsin, including Green Bay, Oshkosh, and Manitowoc, while northern towns stay cooler in the low 70s. By late tonight, most showers will taper off with overnight lows dipping into the 50s, with a cooler 49 degrees forecast in Land O’ Lakes.
Drivers should remain alert for brief downpours and reduced visibility during the evening commute, particularly along U.S. Highway 51 and Highway 29. Outdoor plans tonight should see improving conditions after sunset.
The NWS reports drier and sunnier weather will settle in by Thursday, setting the stage for a stretch of warmer late-summer conditions into the weekend.
