Green Bay, Wisconsin – Light snow and cold temperatures will continue to affect eastern Wisconsin through the weekend, with minor accumulations and localized travel impacts expected near Lake Michigan.

According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, a lake effect snow band will graze eastern Wisconsin today, bringing up to around one inch of snow, with the highest totals expected near Manitowoc County. Forecasters note some uncertainty regarding how far inland the band will extend, but areas closest to the lakeshore face the greatest chance for measurable snowfall.

Additional light lake effect snow may also move across north-central and northeast Wisconsin at times, while flurries are expected elsewhere. Roads near Lake Michigan and close to the Michigan border could become snow-covered and slippery, particularly along Interstate 43, U.S. Highway 42, and nearby state highways.

Temperatures will remain well below normal. Morning wind chills today ranged between -10°F and -25°F, with afternoon highs only climbing into the upper single digits to mid-teens. Residents are urged to bundle up and limit time outdoors when possible.

Looking ahead to the weekend, conditions moderate slightly. High temperatures on Saturday and Sunday are expected to reach the low to mid-20s, with sunshine for many areas on Saturday. However, clouds will increase Sunday, and light snow is forecast to arrive from west to east Sunday afternoon, lingering into Sunday night. Total accumulations from Sunday’s system are expected to range from a couple tenths of an inch to around one inch by early Monday.

While snowfall amounts are not expected to be heavy, the combination of light snow, cold pavement, and gusty winds could still lead to localized slick spots, especially during afternoon and evening travel times. Commuters and weekend travelers should allow extra time and use caution on bridges, ramps, and untreated roads.
