Green Bay, WI – Light snow is expected to move into central Wisconsin late tonight before spreading northeast toward the Highway 10 corridor overnight, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Green Bay. As temperatures rise early Tuesday morning, snow is likely to transition into a wintry mix, bringing the potential for minor travel impacts during the morning commute.

According to the NWS, precipitation chances increase sharply after midnight, particularly for areas south and along Highway 10, including Stevens Point, Waupaca, Marshfield, Wisconsin Rapids, and surrounding communities. These locations show the highest probability for accumulating snow, with precipitation chances peaking between 3 a.m. and 10 a.m. Tuesday.

The Weather Type Forecast indicates mainly snow for central Wisconsin during the early morning hours, while areas farther east—such as Green Bay, Manitowoc, and the lakeshore—may see more rain or a mix as warmer air nudges in from the southeast. This transition will limit accumulation in eastern counties but increase the chance of slippery, slushy spots in central parts of the state.

Road conditions may become slick early Tuesday where snow falls steadily overnight. Even minor accumulations combined with freezing surface temperatures could create hazards on untreated roads, bridges, and rural highways. Drivers commuting between central Wisconsin and the Fox Valley are advised to allow extra travel time.

Highs today will reach 38 to 46 degrees under increasing clouds. By Tuesday afternoon, most precipitation will taper off, leaving damp roads but improving conditions as temperatures rise above freezing.

Residents are encouraged to monitor forecast updates, as slight shifts in temperature or precipitation timing may influence how quickly snow transitions to a wintry mix.
