Green Bay, Wisconsin – Rounds of thunderstorms are expected to move across parts of Wisconsin Friday afternoon through early Saturday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, rain will arrive across the region Friday morning, followed by additional waves of thunderstorms developing later in the day.

Meteorologists say fast-moving storms may move through the region from Friday afternoon through late tonight, with the strongest activity possible during the overnight hours.

Forecasters place much of northeast and central Wisconsin under a Marginal Risk (Level 1 of 5) for severe weather.

Communities including Green Bay, Appleton, Wausau, Stevens Point, and Shawano could experience thunderstorms as the system moves through.

The highest risk for stronger storms is expected between about 10 p.m. and 3 a.m. Saturday, when storms may briefly intensify.

Potential hazards with the strongest storms include gusty winds, small hail, and periods of heavy rainfall.

Drivers traveling along major routes including Interstate 41, U.S. Highway 10, and U.S. Highway 51 could encounter wet roads, lightning, and reduced visibility during heavier downpours.

Although widespread severe weather is not expected, forecasters note that isolated stronger storms remain possible, particularly overnight.

Residents are encouraged to monitor updated forecasts and ensure they have multiple ways to receive weather alerts, especially overnight when storms may develop while people are sleeping.

Commuters and overnight travelers across northeast and central Wisconsin could see brief travel delays or hazardous conditions if storms intensify.

Conditions are expected to improve gradually Saturday after the storms move out of the region.
