Green Bay, Wisconsin – Snow-covered roads are creating hazardous travel across central and northeast Wisconsin this morning, with the heaviest impacts along I-41, US-41, and I-39 through at least 9 to 10 a.m. Friday.
According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, snow remains steady from Wausau through Stevens Point and into the Fox Valley, with partially covered roads extending east and west of the main band. The heaviest snow is expected to continue through mid-morning, reducing visibility and maintaining slippery conditions.
Roads are snow-packed in several counties.
Webcam images show snow-covered lanes along I-39/US-51 near Wausau and along major corridors approaching Green Bay. Travel speeds have slowed on WI-29 and I-43, where plows are actively treating highways but snow continues to accumulate faster than it can be cleared in some spots.
Lower visibility and slick pavement are likely to impact the morning commute, especially on bridges, ramps, and untreated rural roads. Conditions are expected to gradually improve from southwest to northeast late this morning as snowfall intensity decreases.
Drivers should slow down, increase following distance, and check 511 Wisconsin for real-time road updates before departing.
Snow tapers late morning to early afternoon, but lingering slippery stretches may persist into midday as temperatures remain near freezing. Winter driving conditions are expected to continue through late morning, with gradual improvement by early afternoon.
