Green Bay, Wisconsin – Heavier snow bands developed early Tuesday across parts of east-central Wisconsin, reducing visibility and creating locally hazardous travel conditions along major highways.

According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, several snow bands moved through the region during the early morning hours, accompanied by gusty winds. Visibility dropped to under one mile at times, especially during heavier snow bursts. These conditions have made travel difficult on portions of I-41 and I-43, particularly in the Fox Valley area.

Road cameras near Neenah and Winneconne showed snow-covered lanes and slick stretches as snow accumulated faster than crews could clear it. Gusty winds contributed to blowing snow, leading to sudden changes in road conditions over short distances. The National Weather Service warned that drivers may encounter snow-covered or icy patches with little notice.

The most impacted areas include Green Bay, Appleton, Oshkosh, and surrounding communities in east-central Wisconsin. While snowfall rates are expected to fluctuate, the combination of snow and wind is expected to continue to affect travel through the morning commute.

Officials urge motorists to use winter driving precautions, including slowing down, increasing following distance, and remaining alert for rapidly changing visibility. Bridges, overpasses, and ramps along I-41, I-43, and nearby state highways are especially prone to becoming slick during snow bursts.

For commuters and commercial drivers, extra travel time is recommended this morning. Conditions may improve later today as snow bands weaken and move out of the area, but lingering slick spots could persist into midday.

The National Weather Service encourages travelers to check the latest road conditions before departing and continue monitoring local weather updates as conditions evolve. Even brief snow bands can significantly impact travel during peak morning hours.
